Welcome to An Adventure Story. I’m Kara – bovine enthusiast, lover of all things pretty, aspiring author, and all-around restless spirit. I’m also a wife, teacher, and mother. This little corner of the Internet is where I find novelty in the familiar, adventure in the routine – a quest inspired by one of my favorite authors, Henry David Thoreau, who once said, “The invariable mark of wisdom is to see the miraculous in the common.”
I was born and raised in Southeast Iowa, where fall, winter, spring, and summer all stop to say hello. I met my husband in kindergarten, dated him in high school, and married him in 2010. If that isn’t disgustingly cute enough for you, we are both teachers at the same high school. Geoff and I welcomed our first daughter, Savannah, two years after our wedding. A week after her first birthday we found out we were pregnant with our second daughter, Molly. After that, two more little ladies – Caroline and Piper, whose debut was anything but ordinary.
I adore my kids, but I was not prepared for the postpartum anxiety that followed their births. This blog was born from that experience and has since become my happiest of happy places, mostly because its only obligation is honesty.
So welcome, friend, to my humble sanctuary, where I write and share and (barely) evade insanity. Glad you’re here. Stay awhile.
